A quiet, unassuming suburban neighbourhood in a modern-day town. While it appears perfectly normal on the surface, a series of strange occurrences suggests something ominous is lurking beneath the facade. 

Carl Thulman is an ordinary teenager, except that he speaks an ancient dead language, his bed is a small pool, and his face resembles a squid-like creature. He has been living an everyday suburban life until after his 16th birthday, when he notices people taking an interest in him, which no one other than his parents has done. 

Carl has also been experiencing strange dreams. In them, he sees cities burning, buildings falling, and tsunamis sweeping people away, and at the centre of them, he is himself surrounded by a group of disciples.
